The Power You Have

It’s crazy, the power you have,

To make me smile,

To make me dream,

To make me believe in myself,

To make me remember that I am a person worth so much.

It’s crazy the power you have,

And you don’t even try.

The Good and the Bad

There are good days.

And there are bad days.

But if the bad days outweigh the good,

It might be time to let go of whatever’s holding you back.

Because you deserve all the good there is in the world.

“I’d like to get away from earth awhile
And then come back to it and begin over.
May no fate wilfully misunderstand me
And half grant what I wish and snatch me away
Not to return. Earth’s the right place for love:
I don’t know where it’s likely to go better.”

Robert Frost, “Birches”

The first day

I wish I could go back to the first day we met.

I wish I could say to myself,

You have no idea what you’re doing.

You have no idea that this person

Will change your entire world.

And I’ll sit back and laugh at our awkward conversations from that day,

Because I know there’s many more to come.

I’ll watch this first encounter.

These two kids who are unsure if they’ll even see each other again

I’ll watch them.

These two who haven’t the slightest clue that they’re looking at their futures.
